Recession Depression

Yea, money is tight. Times are tough. God forbid you say the R-word. Bla, bla, blaaaa!

But don't be sad, 'cause there is MUCH fun to be had! LoL.

I suggest an action packed evening of Scrabble or Trivial Pursuit accompanied with some dranks and/or a spli or two. *Note: Make sure you aren't the type of person whose internal lexicon gets stunted buy a puff, as mine does, I went from 5 letter words to 3 letter words sooo effin' fast! :(

Or cook a nice meal and accompanied by some vino. Cook offs are even encouraged. Any takers?

Orrrrrr start a series from season one, you can download via www. or rent it. I chose the wire, currently on season 3. WOW! I am sooo up on that B-more ish!

Just for the love of God don't lock your self up to wallow. Mostly everyone is feeling the pinch on their pockets, but staying in will only lead to manifesting and further deprression.

BUT, if you MUST stay in solo, try a puzzle! I am on my third since Christmas, all 350-500 pieces, easy-peasy. I did get a 1000 piece one as a present, which I started and had to stop because I just couldn't wrap my head around quite yet. Further training is needed.
I am off to buy another 500 piece though now.

~Love ME.

Continuing Education

Well, I have decided to apply to College for post graduate studies in PR.... I've always had the idea in the back of my mind, but after the struggles I endured and those I put my Dean though to get my undergrad, I thought I'd never go back to school.

Then I started working 8:15am - 5:00pm, like wooooooah!
Summer was ok because I could go out and stumble out of bed hung, but felt great because I was wearing a pretty summer dress, or better yet, a pencil skirt and blouse. Now, we are in the dead of winter. I don't even toy with the idea of going out on a weekday, unless I stay sober and drive, boooooring. I got a talking to at work because I have been later and later at my desk in the mornings. I believe the novelty of a REAL JOB has worn off and I definitely can't see myself doing these early mornings for the rest of my life, or even the next 2 years for that matter.
Enter, my parents who tell me if I ever want to go back to school, they'll support me.... AMAZ! AND I JUST INHERITED A CAR, double bonus!

Now, I have applied to 3 programs with 5 different startdates, the earliest ones start in September. My only aprehension is that there is what sounds like extensive testing for all of the programs, all of which include, An interview, a 2 page writing assignment, and lastly A GRAMMAR TEST..... DARN!

Formal grammar is the bane of my existence!

I may have majored in German Language & Literature, but this was only because my verbal skills were outstanding (if I do say so). And with regards to grammar, the G-word, shudder, I am a fairly decent writer and editor, I just can't explain why/am not conscious of the formal rules. This I think is due to the hippy beaches schools I went to JK-grade 9. When I hit a grade 10 in private school I actually didn't even know what an essay was?!?! Today, I consider myself a person with fairly good writing skills, just at the moment, very rusty. I haven't written anything in a while except texts, emails mostly to friends and MSN, consequently I appear to have picked up on short form computer lingo to save myself from carpel tunnel syndrome. I have lost touch with capitals upon the start of a sentence, you instead of u, and forget punctuation other than periods (.).

Today is the day will commence my jedi training, MADLIBS and Shift button, here it cooooome!

First interview, this Friday @ Seneca.

Dinner for Two (2)

Made dinner for my absolutely FAV dining companion last night. Usually dinners with Mikey consist of him treating me to a fabulously expensively extravagant dinner, in return I provide incredible conversation... But last night I thought I'd switch it up a bit. I looooove to cook so I decided to take it upon myself!
On the menu:
Lindemans Bin 65 (not my favorite of wines, but tolerable)
Caprese Salad
Sea Bass on a bed of sliced fingerling potatoes, capers and black olives, seasoned with olive oil and fresh thyme leaves
Blanched asparagus with olive oil and lemon

This meal encompassed two firsts:
1. First time making sea bass
2. First time blanching anything (in this case I blanched the asparagus)

SUCCESS! Although, I think I may have opened the oven one too many times the fish was cooked to perfection. And the asparagus ended up perrrrrfecto this is because they didn't continue cooking after I took them out of the water hot water, yay!

Another fabulous dinner with my future ex-husband!

Note:
A special thank you goes out to one of my most used cookbooks, River Cafe Cook Book Easy, where the recipes have very few ingredients but taste ABFAB!

25 YEARS YOUNG!

Well, this is my first attempt at this "BLOG" biznatch. I've decided to funnel my efforts towards something with a juuust little more substance than simply posting on my FB page. Although I kind of feel this will more be an addition versus substitution.

I just turned 25, best birthday EVER, or at least in a looooong while. So let's see what 2009 has in store shall we...
