THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

Last Wednesday the Open Hearts, Open Doors Auction took place at Myth Restaurant, it was a HUGE success.

The turnout was greater than expected and we exceeded our initial fundraising goal of $1000. OHOD managed to raise $4000 in support of the Covenant House Toronto.

We are grateful for your support and for opening your hearts to this charitable cause. It is a night we will always remember.

Thank you,

Lively update for ya!

Summer is just flyyyyyyin' by. It's kind of annoying because you spend months and months counting the days until summer, dying for it to get light out at 5pm. Slow like molasses it arrives, and now, it's almost August. If I wasn't having such a fun summer I would be pissed!

So, it was my mama's birthday a few weeks ago. We celebrated harrrd! Dinner at Colborne Lane on her actual day. It was an intimate affair with me and the boy and her and her main squeeze. The food was excellente! Then on the Saturday her friends and I threw her a big rooftop patio party. It was a banger, lol!

Well that's it from meeeee!

*The first annual Peace Dot Love festival is inspired by Dylan Ellis and Oliver Martin who were senselessly taken from us in an act of random gun violence in June of 2008. Friends, family and the community at large struggled to make sense of the void left by Dylan and Oliver, and what they found was increased violence affecting the city of Toronto and the GTA and a growing need to take immediate action.

Through a collective effort, Leave Out Violence, Peaceuilders International and D.O It! created Peace Dot Love to support national and local anti-violence initiatives through a music platform. Peace dot Love aims to educate, empower, inspire hope and make change in our community with an overall effort of raising youth awareness through the power of music and art.

Summer is finally in the air!

Well it's Tuesday and the week couldn't be going better. I think the main reason is because I finally found myself some new wheels. I've been riding every day since I got her. Wanna see???
I intend on doing some work on her. She's different from anything I have ever known. I like it. :)

Whaaaat else? Hmmm.....

SANTIGOLD CONCERT TOMORROW! Going with some of my gyals Linds and SarAHHHH. Here's a little taste of what is in store:

I hope they are selling t-shirts, I have a pretty decent collection of concert tee's, which I pride myself in.

Lastly, I'd like to pay tribute to my wonderful and amazing 30GB iPod. Last Tuesday at the Grand Analog show at Wrongbar I dropped it in the toilet. I thought that rice could save the day, but no music will come out. We had a good run. RIP.

***

Yay for the shortened week!

Long weekend was loooooong!
I was all over the map, hauled ass to Muskoka after work on Friday, with ZERO traffic both coming up AND back, bueno! We did leave Sunday evening, so that probs has something to do with it. The Annual 2-4 at the Freeman's was another success, if I do say so. Big ups to JD for bringin' the lobsters, they were quite the showstopper. Ash was definitely missed. Had some good highschool reunions though.
The rest of the weekend was ill too. Ended up at the Drake Underground with some ladies for the South Rakkas & Bonjay Jam. What a sweatbox, I flippin' loooooved it. I wonder though, why SRC doesn't play more of their own material? 'Lately', ma FAVE track by them is sooo ill, and their 'Mad Again' Remix showstopping! Still on point though. Dance parties RULE!

Sunday went out for a nice breaky at Le Petit Dejeuner. They have the lovliest strawberry jam and challah toast. Super fresh fruit salad. Their "sausages" were sub par, my brunch mate said the same, bacon next time. I'd go back.

Then to end off the gluttonfest of a weekend, I was invited to a Sunday night dinner with a jolly group of friends; slow cooked loose meat sandwiches with coleslaw and fromage on them. Wow, wow, WOW! I regret not taking photos. But the memory lives strong!

This weekend def set the bar super high for Summer 2009 Long Weekends... Stay tuned.

5.13.2009

Let the long weekends of summer commence!

I am getting suuuuper pumped to head up to Buck Island this weekend in MuskokaaaaaaaaaaaaAH! The Freeman Cottage has been the traditional May 2-4 Spot since grade 10 or 11 for me, longer for Mike 'cause his birthday falls on that weekend. Here are some pics, revisiting these memories just gave me goosebumps... Weeeeee!

Here's the cottage from the dock:
Me and Mikey catchin' some zzz's under the sun, I think this was Labour Day weekend.
Him teaching me to dive, again.
Sarah and I maxin' relaxin'!
Ash and I cuddling.
BBQ-ing!!!
Ash & MikeOne of the things I do best: Jell-o shooters.Sittin' on the dock of the bay.Mike and the mutt.
If you are in the city, don't miss The Drake on Sunday. South Rakkas, the first dancehall group I learned about. They don't come to TO very often, and with the hype of the long weekend should be siiiiiiiick! YOU SHOULD ALL GO!http://www.thedrakehotel.ca/

April showers are bringing May Flowers!

Went on a date to see the Cherry Blossom Festival in High Park on Sunday. It was pretty fun... And darn romantic, if i dare say!

Afterwards, we went to Terroni's on Queen, what a gathering of crazies it was. The waitress was def off her rocker, there was a guy sitting at the next table who has sat besides me the past three times I've been there, and then there was the WORST couple ever sitting on the other side. The wife, was soo brutal, nit-picky and annoying it made me never want to get old, for fear of the slightest chance I might turn into her. She kept telling her husband what he wanted and didn't want, she wanted a beer but not to hops-y or sweet. Gaaaaa! It was like a brutal car crash, I couldn't look away, but I was so disgusted. The funniest part though was when her husband took her hand endearingly and said that the past 12 years have been so wonderful together he hopes for another 12. Her response was that they had actually only been together for 9 years. BAHA!!!! Serves the witch right!

Whaaaat else? Well I case you haven't heard, the UK has put a ban on all Seal products coming from Canada. I haven't decided yet if I am happy about this. I think I am because I think clubbing seals is barbaric, but now it affects the Canadian economy, riight?

Lastly, I have 100% decided to go to SHAMBHALA! I know a few people who have been many times and say it's such a rave! After hearing the reviews from last year, I swore I'd go. So when it came time to book flights I did. So far, it's me, 8 boys and two RV's, Lord have mercy on all our souls. Ha, ha, ha! I'll keep the updates a comin'. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Crime weighs: Thieves steal 400-kg safe FROM HABITAT FOR HUMANITY!!!!

You have got to be kidding me! A 400-kg safe, along with close to $10 000 was stolen from Habitat's East York ReStore. This was enough to pay for the foundations of two houses. What is this world coming to? How desperate does one have to be to steal from a charity? This makes me very sad. My high school was near Bermondsey, not the classiest of neighborhoods, but c'mon! You need to check yo' self people!

Is this really necessary on the front page of the National Post, REALLY???

Another winner, that Miss Universe. She writes in her blog about visiting Guantanamo Bay, "It was a looooot of fun! I didnt want to leave, it was such a realaxing place, so calm and beautiful." I wonder if the army gave her a new Hummer or something, just gross!

Another glorious Friday; I definitely put on my spring coat this morning. I think we can fffffinally say that spring is in the air and if you are right Noah, I know, I owe you a 2-6! I kinda hope you are right!

Went for a delicious AND CHEAP dinner last night at The Drake Hotel. Imagine this, a burger with bacon and cheese, fries or salad, and a pint of beer, all for $10!!!! Like woah, I know. The food was stellar and included a toy! I got bubbles, my FAV! Is this new recession-friendly menu they have called the "Starving Artist Menu", everything is amazing on it.

Rusko on Monday at the Social. Definitely going to have a tame weekend so I can give'r Monday and still make it in one piece to work Tuesday.
